This past December I found myself in one of the photography my circles and happened upon a post for an opportunity to photograph an upcoming wedding…in less than 2 weeks. While I’m always up to take on a last minute event, this one was different…special.
This couple had been engaged and was planning their wedding for the next year, but circumstances were changing. Jamie’s father had received word from his physician that he was not long for this world. The family, with Jamie’s sister at the helm, went into motion planning the wedding to take place in the coming days.
I’m blessed to work with a lot of brides. These women for the most part tend to plan their “big day” out over time with many fairytale touches. However, the possibility of not having her father walk her down the aisle over shadowed any of those other “details”.
This has to be one of the most moving weddings I have ever been a part of. Every turn was emotion…so much emotion. I must say that simply being a part of it changed me in a very positive way.
It was a blessing.
In the following months Jamie’s father lost his battle with cancer. It’s my prayer that the entire family can look back over the photographs I was able to capture to see just how big of a gift this man was given. Being a father, of 2 girls in particular, I had tears streaming down my face many times. The father/daughter relationship is just different.
Here are a few of our favorites from the day…photographs after the break.
Casey & Jamie,

Sincerely,
